We are happy to invite you to the 2019 Singapore HarpFest VI held from 5-8 September 2019 at the University Cultural Center, NUS and Esplanade Theatres on the Bay.

Under the artistic direction of Singapore’s Young Artist Award recipient, Ms Katryna Tan, this festival promises to be more exciting than ever with a range of creative activities and workshops lined up for 4 days of Harping FUN!

We are proud to welcome our Guest Harpist,  Virtuoso Sylvain Blassel, from France who will share his expertise on the instrument. Jakez Francois, President of Camac Harps France, will also be here to give insight to historical harps and how the modern day Harp came to be.

In the last few years, the Singapore harp community has explored, along with local composers, the creation of an unique identity to our harp music in the Nanyang and South East Asian Region. This year, we will be featuring three distinguished composers who have contributed immensely to our unique harp repertoire. The composers are Eric Watson, Phang Kok Jun and Julian Wong. We are especially excited to be presenting to you, the Singapore Premiere of a Harp Concerto composed by Eric Watson. Come, and be inspired by these maestros and perhaps you will find a composer in you!

Of the many Singapore HarpFests that happened in the past (this being our 6th!), we have also seen the maturity and growth of many young aspiring harpists, who have continued and pursued the path of a professional harpist. We are proud to be inviting these young harp professionals back to HarpFest, to celebrate their achievements, experiences, and share their music with us.

Besides the young artists, adult learners and senior harpists will also be joining us. They are harpists who came to realise that learning to play the harp is never too late, and have reaped wholesome benefits from this passion. With much to share, join them at “Let the Harps Sound!”

Finally, following the series of “Pluck” Harp Musicals, successfully staged both internationally and in Singapore, we are proud to present a brand NEW Harp Musical – “Legends of the Harp”. Do not miss the only Harp Musical in the world!

We are looking forward to welcoming harpists from all over Asia and even Australia!

A Festival with much to offer in Harp Experience, Inspiration, Learning, Making Friends, Creating music,Sharing of Passion, and much more…

Warmest regards,
